Kiia-Limu -litter born 21th Jan 2004
dam: HK 2 BH Pikkupaimenen Dixie Dew "Kiia" sire: WT Ch BH Yazina´s Limousine "Limu"
Puppies were eye tested 5.3.2004
All of them were clear of CEA !!
"Kiia" is 4-year-old active, friendly and happy but hard working bitch. She is healthy in every way. Her hip score is B, elbow score is 0/0 and eyes were clear as a puppy and winter 2003. Kiia loves to do search as she loves to run and she loves people. Kiia has gained two CCs from shows, and needs one more for her championships. She has also been character tested. In that test she gained +174 points (secure to shots, very open and friendly, good workability). Kiia´s sire, his parents and their closest relatives has been health screened and competing in obedience and agility in Australia, as well as seen in shows.Kiiaīs dam and grandparents have also competed in working trials and in obedience here in Finland as well as shown in conformation (and all of them have also naturally been health scored). It has been interesting to follow their success in both arenas, and it has been interesting to see how their progeny has followed their paw prints here in Scandinavia. Kiia has got one brother, Tarmo, who is international champion, has passed his character test and is currectly competing in class 3 in search trials, and we will hear from him in working arenas as we will hear of Kiia too. The second closest relative to Kiia in Finland is her half sister, very promising young bitch called Brie. We hope also Kiia´s progeny to be as well healthy, good working dogs that also look good."Limu" is 4-year-old handsome boy, who has been really active in the performance activities. He is also very healthy kid, being eye tested clear as a puppy and spring 2003. His hip score is B. Limu is also very friendly with people, and to make the combination as perfect as possible, we have looked for a stud who is slightly softer than Kiia, to get an ideal combination of temperaments for the puppies. With ideal temperament I mean dogs with lots of energy and will to work, enough mental hardness not to remember bad things or corrections, but enough softness to learn easily enough. Limu has got champion sister and brother and with his own looks he could easily gain excellent show results, but Limuīs owner has not been too interested in shows. He has been to few shows and has got champion quality from very limited showing. He is from a bigger side of a male, but a handsome boy in every way.
This litter, like all the litters I have bred, tries to join good health in every possible way, good temperament and workability and good structure all in same dog and in same litter. My aim is to get as many pups in the litter to fulfil this dream, be equally healthy, equally good in character (not meaning that they all should be exactly the same, as like there are different temperaments, there are also owners who prefer diqfferent characters to work with) and I hope all of them to have equally good structures (which doesnīt again mean that they should all look exactly the same, as there can be variation in the look within the correct structure). There are not identical dogs, and there can still be several well built dogs, all able to work all day. This aim of mine has been the same for 15 years, as long as I have bred Border Collies, hasnīt changes, only become stricter as I have - hopefully - learned something, and will - hopefully - become even stricter as I will learn more. There is no such thing as perfect dog, but the aim must be perfection. This combination is outcross joining Australian, New Zealand and British and European lines of Border Collies, lots of hip scored and eye tested dogs, lots of dogs with working results, obedience results and agility results, lots of excellent show results around the world. I have studied the backgrounds of these two dogs since 1989 now, with the help of Australian and European breeders, talking to the owners to the dogs in this pedigree, seeing some of them over the years in the real life, seeing them on videos, seeing some of them working or at shows, seeing some of them at pictures only. I believe that these two dogs can join the best qualities of their pedigrees and bring some new bloodlines into our breeding program, and still keep the type I am looking for. I believe this litter will help us to get what I have been looking for all these years, the health, temperament and workability and the structure of the Border Collie.
